Official: Russia puts industrial support in countersanctions bill

MOSCOW, May 11 (PRIME) -- Russian parliament has included support of the industries and companies, which suffered from the U.S. sanctions in a draft law on retaliation, Speaker of the State Duma, parliament’s lower chamber, Vyacheslav Volodin, said at a meeting to discuss the draft law on Friday.

“We’ve included an additional stipulation on purpose, it allows us to decide on support of the industries and companies, which will bear the burden of sanctions on the one hand and on the other hand, we will also support them and back them up if we retaliate,” Volodin said.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies. A bill on countersanctions was submitted to the State Duma on April 13, it includes restricting employment of U.S. citizens, stopping nuclear and aircraft cooperation, banning imports of rare earth metals, U.S.-made agricultural, alcoholic, tobacco products and software.
